Let Them Believe | Tips for Parents of Young Dreamers and Doers

{A message from Make A Way CEO, Deedee Cummings}

“A dream speaks to you. It is why you are here. Listen to it.” ~Deedee Cummings

I recently shared this repost from Essence magazine on my Author Deedee Cummings Facebook Page because the words resonated with me.

They lifted me up.

They propelled me forward.
“You don’t get what you wish for. You don’t even get what you hope for. You get what you BELIEVE. I’m not living the dream because I’m special, I’m living the dream because I was obedient to the call of the dream.” – @oprah
Somebody needs to hear this. Let this be the last year, the last month, and the last day that you ignore God’s dream for you. #ESSENCE

That brings me to one of the many reasons I am creating a new monthly activity and reward program for kids who engage in actions of empathy, volunteerism, self-care, and reading.

K Club is a ‘club’ for our younger fans to subscribe to and have access to things like cool coloring sheets, stickers, fun activity packages, contests, and much more!

Parents and teachers will love K Club because it will be a fun and interactive way for them to use their love of Make A Way Media books to stay engaged in activities and events.

I also envision K Club to be a reason for our kids to unplug and breathe. I want to encourage them to sit on the floor together…

…no TV…

…no phone…

…no packed schedules with no time to be a kid.

Only the sound of their voices.

A time when they can do activities that let them speak their minds and really listen to each other. A time for them to ask for what they need, and do the same for others. A time for them to share their hopes and dreams without judgment or embarrassment.

A time for them to BELIEVE.

Parents, what can you do to utilize K Club? Use the tools and activities we will be proving to ask important questions like:

What are your hopes, your fears, your dreams?

What is a dream?

Do you have one? If no, why not?

Let’s come up with a dream together. Let’s go to the library and get a book about your dream of becoming a chef, a carpenter, a nurse, a homebuilder, an astronaut.

Let them believe that it is possible. Help them be obedient to the call of the dream.

As a mom, author, CEO, and dreamer, I want the K Club to share the importance of us taking care of each other.
